About Awanis
Hi! I'm a dedicated math and science tutor with several years of experience helping students build confidence, improve their understanding, and achieve their academic goals. My approach is clear, patient, and tailored to each student’s unique learning style. Whether you're struggling with equations or trying to make sense of a science concept, I’ll meet you where you are and guide you step by step toward understanding. My teaching style is built on clarity and connection—I believe that when students truly understand why something works, not just how, they become much more confident and capable. I use real-life examples, creative explanations, and lots of practice to make sure lessons are engaging and effective. If you’re learning about forces in physics, we might look at skateboarding or roller coasters. If you’re working on fractions, we might relate it to cooking or shopping. I always aim to make learning practical and relatable. Lessons usually run for an hour, which allows plenty of time for review, explanation, guided practice, and questions. I'm flexible with timing and happy to adjust based on your needs or goals. My lessons are suitable for students aged 10 to 18, from middle school through high school—whether you're catching up, keeping up, or aiming to get ahead. I have a strong academic background in math and science, along with hands-on tutoring experience across a range of levels and learning needs. I’m professional, reliable, and fully committed to helping you succeed. Most importantly, I create a learning environment that’s supportive and encouraging—so you feel comfortable asking questions and confident in your ability to grow. If you're looking for a tutor who explains things clearly, stays patient, and genuinely wants to see you thrive, I’d love to work with you.

When I teach math and science, my main goal is to make things click for my students. I know these subjects can feel overwhelming at times, so I focus on breaking things down in a way that makes sense—whether that’s through a simple explanation, a real-life example, or just taking the time to work through problems step by step together. For example, if a student is stuck on something like balancing chemical equations or solving for x, I’ll show different ways to approach it until we find what sticks for them.
I usually structure lessons to be around an hour long. That gives us time to review previous material, introduce something new, practice together, and make sure everything makes sense before we wrap up. Of course, I stay flexible depending on the student’s age or goals—some sessions are shorter or longer depending on what’s needed.
I’ve been tutoring for a few years now, working with students from upper primary all the way through high school. I’ve helped kids who needed a bit of extra support to catch up, and I’ve also worked with students who wanted to stretch beyond what they were learning in class. My background is in math and science, and I genuinely enjoy these subjects—so I try to pass that energy on to my students. I believe that with the right support, every student can feel confident and capable, even in subjects that might not come naturally at first.
My lessons are best suited for students between the ages of 10 and 18, from those just getting started with more complex ideas in math and science, to those preparing for exams or trying to improve their grades. I always aim to create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and really learning—not just memorizing.
