About Galina

I have a BA degree in English Philology from a Russian university. I followed it up with a Level 5 Trinity TESOL qualification and gaining a QTLS status. I have been teaching ESOL for over 30 years. My English is to a mother-tongue level. I am very thorough, pay a lot of attention to grammar and correct pronunciation, as well as to developing fluency, good reading and listening skills. How deep we dive into it depends on a student's level and learning goals. I gauge it by using my knowledge, experience and intuition combined with student engagement. I have taught students of all levels and ages, beginner to advanced, in a variety of settings - primary and secondary schools, colleges, refugee centres and private clients, online and face-to-face. I have experience in teaching individuals and groups. I teach from A1 to C1 levels. Those who are not taking exams I support by teaching conversational, reading and listening skills. I have received many recommendations from my students. My extra asset is that while my English is at the mother-tongue level, I am also a native Russian speaker, so if you need to learn Russian or prefer a Russian speaker to teach you or your children, I will be happy to help.

About the lesson

I believe that the most important quality of a good teacher is the ability to listen and respond to the student's needs and learning goals. This first happens during an initial assessment and then at individual lessons.

Great results can only be gained where a student is actively engaged in the learning process. This maintains their interest. I am to gain students' input and feedback by observing their achievement in class and through informal conversations.

I have been teaching ESOL for over 30 years in schools, colleges and privately. In my lessons, I focus on creating a caring, friendly and engaging atmosphere where a student takes an active part in their learning. Mutual respect, motivation and encouragement play a big part in my relationships with the students I teach.
