About Blake
I have over 9 years of experience teaching guitar and hold a Bachelor of Music Education with a focus on guitar. My passion is helping students express their emotions through music while building strong technical skills. I believe that playing guitar is not just about notes, but about telling a story with your instrument. In my lessons, I focus on developing solid technique so you can play comfortably and confidently. I also emphasize music theory to help you understand what you’re playing and why it sounds good. Practical fluency across the fretboard is a key goal, so I guide students through scales, chords, and improvisation. I tailor lessons to your musical tastes and personal goals. Whether you want to play fingerstyle, rock, jazz, or worship music, I’m here to support you. My approach combines patience with structured practice. I encourage creativity and expression in every session. Together, we work on timing, dynamics, and phrasing to bring your music to life. My teaching approach focuses on building strong fundamentals and helping students enjoy playing guitar. I start with ergonomic techniques to ensure comfortable and healthy playing habits. We practice open chords and power chords to build a solid chord vocabulary. Finger dexterity exercises are a regular part of lessons to improve speed and accuracy. I also include ear training to help students recognize notes and chords by sound. Understanding music theory is important, so I teach concepts like Roman Numeral Chord Nomenclature to make learning easier. Whether you enjoy fingerstyle or worship music, I tailor lessons to fit your style and goals. I focus on real songs to keep learning fun and relevant. Together, we work on timing, rhythm, and expression. I encourage patience and consistent practice because progress takes time. My goal is to help students become confident players. I support those who want to perform or lead worship with ease. Lessons are paced to match each student’s learning speed. With the right guidance, anyone can excel on the guitar.
