About Isabella
After completing my Undergraduate degree in English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Warwick, with the latter part being during the COVID-19 pandemic, I immediately knew that I wanted to continue in education. However, upon graduating from my Master’s at King’s, I made the decision to seek a new path. Though doing a PhD had always been on the cards, I viewed the next stage in my life as seeking work experience. Despite being unsure of whether I wanted to pursue a career in academia or teaching, I embarked on a tutoring career to provide myself with the opportunity to do both. It was from then on that I quickly discovered a passion for being not only a tutor but an academic coach. Planning and delivering lessons to students not only helped me to maintain a love for English Literature, but it ignited a shared pleasure in the students also. Collaboratively, we were able to sustain an approach that allowed students’ confidence to flourish and allow them to recognise their academic potential.

I have extensive experience (over 300 hours) as a tutor of English Literature, English Language, essay writing, academic writing and creative writing. In terms of GCSE and A Level, I am very familiar with the AQA, WJEC, IGCSE, OCR, and Edexcel syllabus, for example, and aim to help students feel confident when it comes to knowing how they might approach the English Literature paper come exam day. I am passionate about helping students of all abilities develop a thorough grasp of their studies. Each tuition session can be tailored to the student's specific need, and together, we can build an authentic approach that supports their academic goals. My tutees have gone on to exceed their GCSE and A-level predictions proving the benefits of such an authentic approach.
As well as being an academic coach, I am also a freelance writer. My love of writing grew out of writing poetry in my spare time. Scribbling in the back of classrooms, I decided to try and was recognized through my secondary school, which rewarded me with a prize for my poetry. It was from then on that I homed in on my skills and was later accepted at the UK’s top university for English and Creative Writing. I have worked as a journalist for the student-led news platform, The Tab and was appointed as the Editor in Chief for the Warwick Tab during my final year at the University of Warwick. It was this experience that contributed to my desire to vocalize my topical views on mental health. My journalism on mental health has been featured on various blogs and major news platforms, including the BBC. I have non-fiction written experience after being selected for Curtis Brown Creative’s “Writing Your Memoir” course, whereby I began the process of writing my own piece of narrative non-fiction. I am passionate about using my voice to encourage the conversation around mental health. I actively encourage my clients to honour their voice and explore it through whatever platform they can. Whether it be writing manifestos, poetry, fiction or memoir-writing, I enjoy supervising all forms of writing.
