About Yisi
I'm a 1600 Chess.com rated chess player and an active sports coach. I've been playing chess since I was young, but over the past year I've really focused on improving my game, taking my rating from around 800 to 1600 through consistent study and playing.
I enjoy helping people learn and improve, and I have experience coaching and working one-to-one with people of different ages, including young children.
I particularly enjoy helping players understand the game rather than simply memorising moves. My goal is to help you build a solid understanding of chess, improve your decision-making and, most importantly, enjoy the process of getting better.

My lessons are based around what you want to improve and where you are currently at. Whether you're completely new to chess or an early intermediate player, we'll work on the areas that will help you improve most.
For younger players, I focus on making chess fun while helping them build a strong understanding of the game. Rather than just memorising openings or moves, I want students to understand why they're making certain decisions on the board.
We can work on tactics, openings, checkmates, strategy and calculation, as well as looking at games you've played to see where you can improve.
I like to keep lessons practical, with a mix of playing, solving positions and discussing ideas. I'll adjust the way I explain things depending on the student, so lessons can work for both children and adults.
