About James
I've placed at state as board 1 in KHSAA high school chess, and I've enjoyed fitness and wrestling outside of chess. Some of my core beliefs are that overall wellness contributes to mental wellness, and I saw that in myself as I started to take care of my health more, growing into a young adult. I was in Boy Scouts and instructed a class of 20+ beginners on the basic rules of chess as well as etiquette, leading to all of them completing their merit badge. I also enjoy long walks on the beach and sunsets from the peaks of mountains :)

I am beginner friendly and open-minded to ideas and play styles. Our lesson would start with us reviewing a few of your games, chatting about your play style, opening concepts, and game states. Then we could delve deeper into certain aspects of chess and areas you are lacking in and what we can do to improve. Why me? I've been there before. I didn't start out as a prodigy, but I did work constantly over the years to build up my knowledge and repertoire from some of the best coaches in Kentucky, and I will pass that knowledge onto you.
