About Aram

I have a peak rating of 1812 ECF and 2096 Chess.com and I have taught beginner and intermediate children locally within Manchester. I operate within the Manchester area and can visit the tutee if they are local to me. However, I can also conduct sessions over Zoom or Discord.

About the lesson

I look to teach both beginner (0-1000 chess.com) and intermediate (1000-1500 chess.com) players how to get their chess to the next level. Furthermore, I will attempt to tutor in accordance with the preferred style of the tutee, as this will allow for more engagement. For example, if someone tends towards a more solid way of playing, I will look to teach them the Caro-Kann Defence and how to navigate the pawn structures that occur from it. For beginners, I look to teach general principles (development, king safety, central control) and basic tactical motifs. In addition, I look to teach basic endgames and checkmates (2 rooks vs lone king, queen vs lone king etc.) For intermediates, however, I will expand upon these and teach more advanced concepts, such as checkmating patterns, pawn structures and more advanced endgames. Furthermore, I will analyse any game that the tutee presents to me, whether it be an over-the-board game or an online game and go through areas for improvement or areas where the tutee is strong. For this, I will create Lichess studies where I annotate such areas.
