About Emily
My name is Emily, and I am a yoga instructor (200 hour CYT) and evolutionary anthropologist. My love for anthropology has kept me invested in the evolution of human mobility and nutrition which I believe gives me a unique perspective on the world of fitness. I also worked as an archaeologist for two years; during this time I learned about ancient cultural practices such as yoga, which people all over the world practice today and to receive profound physical and mental benefits. As a yoga teacher, it is of utmost importance to help students to meet their body where it is at and to guide them in freeing themselves of comparison as they build a strong base. My classes provide foundational knowledge of yoga and meditation (including the history and science in addition to the physical practice). Student take-away's will include increased strength, flexibility as well as a personal practice they can continue and confidently modify on their own for years to come.

-Intake session: discuss personal goals, what student would like to get out of the practice.
-a typical session will be 1 - 1.5 hours depending on students availability.
-I am passionate about anatomy and mobility. Along with traditional salutations, I teach strengthening exercises to help students safely progress to more demanding poses.
-I teach beginner-experienced yogi's. For online sessions, I do not teach head stands or hand stand to beginners. I will however give them the foundation to get into these poses.
-I will assign short meditation and breath work as homework to help the student prepare more a practice that will not just be exercise but will also be meditation in motion.
-If you are interested in the history and the science behind yoga, I will excitedly integrate more of this information into our lessons!
