About Mercedes
I have tutored since I was in high school and love helping others find their writer’s voice. I have worked with people from all age groups and backgrounds and know how to handle both easy and challenging situations when it comes to teaching writing comprehension and expression.
IMPORTANT: I attend ie university in Spain throughout the school year. The address provided is my family home back in the US. Please be aware that in order to book a lesson on a week day it can be no later than 2 pm; for weekends the lesson cannot be later than 3pm.

I’m very patient and good at explaining concepts in way that is easy to understand. I believe everyone learns at their own pace. That’s why it’s imperative that the student sets the agenda so they can get what they want out of a lesson.
To better explain how I teach, I follow the rhythm of the student. We will start the lesson discussing what they feel good about and what needs work. After that we will do some review of the stuff that’s ok—just to make sure it’s as good as we can get it—and spend the remainder of the lesson improving the things that need work. Repetition, positive reinforcement, and self-awareness are my teaching methodology, as it helps to breed confidence and better study habits.
