About Scott

I graduated from college in 2020 with a degree in Business Administration. Since I was young I always found myself comfortable in the maths and was always helping my peers when they struggled in the subject. I love working with kids, and feel I can connect with them better than most. I have been coaching in lacrosse since 2015 and currently coach a 7th grade club team. This prior experience has shown me that each child learns in different ways and responds in different ways. I hope to help tutor your child in the way that works best for them! I strive to make each of my players and students feel valued and respected as I know how important that is. I am not a one size fits all tutor, and I will work with your child until we can find a way that works for them.

Working with kids is something I have always found rewarding. Whether coaching lacrosse or tutoring, the kids smiles at the end are always worth it. It is not fun to feel like you are behind the curve, and if I can change that for just one person, it will always be worth it.

While I am just officially starting tutoring, I always assisted struggling peers in my math classes throughout my education. I even helped many of my friends study for the math section of the SAT while we were all going through that process. I have worked with kids extensively in the past through coaching and clinics for lacrosse. I currently coach a 7th grade club lacrosse team in the Baltimore area.

About the lesson

I like to use the first session to find out what works for them. Not all kids learn the same way, so they shouldn't all be taught the same way. This first session is for me to find the best way to help your student! Prior to the first session, I like to ask for a few examples of completed work and work that is upcoming. This allows me to find common mistakes and plan how to fix them and move onto the next skills.

Find the tutor that works best with your student. As we all know sometimes kids just do not want to listen, no matter how much of an expert someone is. Finding a tutor that connects with your student on a level outside of just schooling will allow for better listening and mutual respect.
