About Francis

I’m Francis, a senior studying biochemistry at Columbia University. I scored a 522 on the MCAT, with a section breakdown of (130/129/131/132,) and I also work as an EMT.

Before returning to school, I spent eight years working as a professional artist. As a nontraditional student, I understand how daunting it can feel to begin the path toward medicine, and how much thoughtful guidance can help.

I bring patience, clear explanations, and a strong foundation in the sciences to our sessions. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, admitting when something doesn’t make sense, and working through mistakes. My goal is to help you develop both the understanding and the independence to keep improving between sessions.

About the lesson

Hi! I’m Francis, a biochemistry student at Columbia University who scored a 522 on the MCAT (130/129/131/132).

I offer personalized tutoring to help you understand challenging material, work through passages, and approach the exam with greater confidence.

The MCAT is a content-based exam indeed, but it requires more than memorization. Our sessions will focus on connecting scientific concepts, interpreting experiments and figures, and reasoning through unfamiliar questions. When we review practice problems, we’ll examine both why the correct answer works and what makes the other choices tempting.

Depending on your needs, we can work on:

Day 1 orientation on how to even BEGIN preparing for the MCAT; how to make effective use of your time!

Chemistry, biochemistry, biology, physics, and psychology/sociology content.

Passage analysis and test-taking strategies

Identifying patterns in missed questions.

Building a realistic study schedule and using practice materials effectively

As a nontraditional student who returned to school after working as a professional artist, I understand that there’s no single path to medicine. Whether you’re beginning your preparation or working toward a higher score, we’ll build sessions around your starting point and goals.
