About John Alfred

Hi! I’m John Alfred, an ABM Senior High School graduate with a strong interest in Mathematics, learning, and helping others develop their skills.

My academic background in Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) has given me experience working with numbers, problem-solving, and applying mathematical concepts in practical situations. Through my school-based experiences in entrepreneurship and business activities, I also developed skills in communication, organization, teamwork, and responsibility.

Beyond academics, I am actively involved in Youth Development Session (YDS) activities, where I have taken leadership and organizational responsibilities. Through YDS, I have gained experience in facilitating sessions, communicating with young people, coordinating activities, and helping create learning experiences for other youth. These experiences have strengthened my patience, communication skills, and ability to explain ideas clearly—qualities that I also bring into tutoring.

As a tutor, I understand that students have different learning styles and levels of understanding. I will always approach lessons with patience, respect, and professionalism. My goal is to create a comfortable learning environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and improve without feeling pressured or embarrassed.

Although I am still building my experience as a tutor, I am committed to preparing for every lesson, communicating clearly, and continuously improving my teaching approach. I value responsibility, honesty, patience, and continuous learning, and I will do my best to provide every student with a positive and productive learning experience.

I look forward to helping students become more confident in Mathematics and discover that learning the subject can be much easier when concepts are explained in a way they can understand.

Hi! I’m John Alfred, an ABM Senior High School graduate who enjoys working with numbers and helping others understand Mathematics in a simpler and more approachable way.

My goal as a tutor is not simply to give students the answers, but to help them understand how and why they arrive at the correct answer. I believe that Mathematics becomes easier when lessons are explained step by step and connected to the student's current level of understanding.

My Teaching Approach:

I use a patient and student-centered approach. I first try to understand what the student already knows and which parts of the lesson they find difficult. From there, I explain the concept using simple examples before gradually moving to more challenging problems.

During lessons, I can use:

1. Step-by-step explanations
2. Simple and practical examples
3. Guided problem-solving
4. Practice exercises
5. Questions and discussions
6. Review of mistakes to help students understand where they went wrong

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like:

A typical lesson may begin with a short review of the previous topic or the student's current knowledge. We then introduce the new concept and work through examples together. After that, the student will have the opportunity to solve problems independently while I provide guidance when needed.

At the end of the lesson, we can review the important points and identify which areas the student may need to practice further.

What Sets Me Apart:

As a tutor, I understand that not every student learns Mathematics at the same pace. I will not expect a student to understand a concept immediately. Instead, I am willing to explain it in different ways until the idea becomes clearer.

I also believe that making mistakes is part of learning. Rather than making students feel embarrassed about getting an answer wrong, I want to help them understand their mistakes and use them as opportunities to improve.

Who My Lessons Are For:

My lessons are best suited for students who need additional support with basic to intermediate Mathematics, particularly students who want to strengthen their understanding, practice problem-solving, review lessons, or become more confident when working with numbers.

Whether you are struggling with a particular topic or simply want someone to guide you through your Mathematics lessons, I will do my best to make each session comfortable, understandable, and productive.

Let’s learn Mathematics step by step, one problem at a time
