About Harini

I am Harini and I am seventeen years old. I have enjoyed helping teach creative subjects like dance and drama from sixteen years old and have experience teaching maths to younger friends and family members.

I really enjoy teaching because of the pride you feel in the person you’re teaching and the satisfaction you feel within yourself when a student achieves something like a great grade or simply understanding a maths concept or getting a question correct!

Teaching is passing on your knowledge to others which I think is a beautiful thing. I tend to have a creative approach to teaching if it helps a child to learn and

I know what it feels like to not have confidence in a subject and having help and encouragement in maths really made me fulfil my potential in the maths subject at GCSE Level.

So I would like to do the same for others and not only help them become better but push students who have great potential if they would like to be pushed, because I believe in dreaming big and working towards what you want and can fulfil!

About the lesson

I am very enthusiastic and enjoy teaching younger children. I am able to teach students from reception to year 11, who want to learn mathematics or prepare for AQA and EDEXCEL GCSE Mathematics exams (not Further mathematics or any other exam board for GCSE mathematics). I am also able to help prepare children for their Year 6 SATS Exams.

Engaging activities include regular quizzes on a specific topic, PowerPoints and doing past papers. Homework includes past paper practice for GCSE students (years 9, 10 and 11) and questions on topic learned (reception to year 11).

They will start with a knowledge check quiz (a couple of questions) to see where the students knowledge gaps are and what their strengths are.
Then they will be taught through PowerPoint slides.
Next they will complete topic questions from various textbooks or online websites and they will be marked by me.
Questions they get wrong will be done again to learn from mistakes.
We will then end the lesson by reconsolidating what they have learned by going through PowerPoints, or completing past paper questions.

Homework will be given each week to keep their brains ticking! Students and parents may ask for an extension for the homework due dates if needed.
