About Aditi
I’m an academic, although I have been pursuing my interests over the years, and have tutored many of my friends kids.
Curriculum is all about what you want to teach.
One of my friends had me tutoring his two daughters in math - they were just starting algebra - but the older of the two (a high school freshman) told me after we had finished with the math, that she had a big test on “Romeo and Juliet” the next day, and could I help her?
I acted out part of the balcony scene for her, to make her understand that Juliet was hearing everything Romeo spoke from his heart.
What really sucks was that her high school English teacher was trying to teach the kids all of the critical analysis tools that she learned in college, and they all had to know the Greek names for them. That was the crap she was supposed to spit back on the test. We use things like litotes all the time, but do we mentally use them? Can we get English teachers that want to teach story over dissection?

I use debates to get students involved in thinking critically about the subject. They usually go to lengths to read and rebut their opponents argument in the hope of winning the debate.See attached as an example. I use Social Media to engage them in topics of interest but linking it to the class content. Today's digital natives use this form of communication frequently, so they are usually eager to participate.
