About Lisa
Guitar teaching is part of a ten-year career during which I have guided 475 students, from young beginners to advanced players preparing for grade examinations. My own training spans both classical and contemporary guitar, and I spent several years performing professionally before dedicating my full focus to teaching. I am a demanding but deeply invested tutor, believing genuine mastery requires patient, deliberate practice rather than rushed repetition of favorite passages. Many of my tutoring relationships have lasted several years, letting me guide a student's entire musical development from first lessons through confident performance. Watching former students achieve strong exam results remains meaningful.

My guitar teaching after ten years relies on detailed diagnostic listening, identifying exactly where a student's technique or theory understanding needs the most attention before building a targeted practice plan. Technical exercises are always connected directly to repertoire, showing students precisely how a scale or arpeggio pattern strengthens the piece they are currently learning. Practice is structured into short, focused segments rather than long unfocused sessions, since consistent deliberate work reliably outperforms occasional intense practice. For exam or performance preparation I schedule frequent mock performances under realistic conditions, since strong technique alone does not guarantee a confident result under evaluation. Detailed long term progress records track subtle improvements.
