About Jake

Hi! Here’s a little about me. I live in Dallas, TX along with my wife Caroline and our 1 year old son Judah, who is so much fun and keeps us on our toes!

I began learning to play the piano when I was 5 years old, and have now been playing for more than 27 years. My journey with the piano includes
1) Being privately trained for 13 years through the advanced level
2) Competing in the national Fine Arts music festival and placing in the top 10 nationally in the piano solo category
3) Graduated from Nyack College (NY) with a bachelor's degree, having served as the music director for all contemporary worship teams on campus
4) 10+ years of experience serving as music director and worship team leader for multiple churches in the Pittsburgh, PA area

About the lesson

As a teacher I believe I am good at helping students learn to own their own journey with the piano by creating a safe, enjoyable, and focused space in each 30 minute weekly lesson time!

If you take lessons from me, you can expect for us to work to establish a solid foundation of the following
1) Healthy teacher-to-student relationship
2) Clarity on what your goals are for learning the piano, and what you need from me as your teacher to help you meet those goals
3) A flexible routine curated to you that will include warmups, content review, and focused practice time

Students will leave each lesson with clear next steps on how to engage their personal practice time in between lessons, as well as encouragement to keep going!

Perfect! We know how rare it is to find someone truly special when it comes to working with our kids. Jake is the real deal. You can tell immediately that he lives and breathes music, and somehow he makes that contagious for his students. My daughter has always been on the quieter side, but she lights up during her lessons with him. He has a warmth and fun spirit that puts kids at ease without ever letting the bar slip. She's growing as a musician while genuinely enjoying the process. I'm so glad she's learning from him.

Jake was our worship leader at church, and I have worked with Jake at a youth development organization. Jake’s passion for music is deep and his love to serve youth is strong. Jake taught my daughter piano lessons for over a year. I was impressed how prepared he was for every lesson, and taught her to read music. Her skills continued to strengthen while he taught her, and I believe it was because of Jake’s instruction. I highly recommend.

Jake started teaching at the Enrichment Center of Western PA, where I am the executive director. My kids enjoyed his teaching so much that we followed him into private lessons! He’s done a great job being positive and encouraging, working with their special needs, and still holding them accountable. They’ve learned so much and I highly recommend him!

Jake is the kind of piano teacher every parent hopes to find. He is a genuinely gifted musician, and that passion for his craft comes through in every lesson. But what truly sets him apart is how well he connects with his students. My daughter is on the shy side, and from the very beginning Jake created an environment where she felt completely at ease. He makes the piano fun, not just educational, so she stays engaged and actually looks forward to her lessons. If you are looking for a teacher who will meet your child where they are and help them fall in love with music, Jake is your guy. Highly recommend.
