  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

Interestingly, programming wasn’t something I always enjoyed. In fact, I was initially quite intimidated by it and used to fear the very idea of studying it. Things changed during my third semester in college when one of my core subjects required me to understand programming in depth. That was when I decided to overcome my hesitation and really dive into the subject. As I started understanding the concepts and solving problems, my perspective changed completely. What once seemed intimidating gradually became something I genuinely enjoyed. Since then, there has been no looking back. Today, I particularly enjoy teaching programming and data structures because I understand how rewarding it can be when a seemingly difficult concept finally clicks.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach and why?

I have been teaching since my high school days, and over time, it has become more of a passion and a hobby for me. I genuinely enjoy interacting with students, sharing what I have learned, and helping them understand concepts that might initially seem difficult. Having experienced similar struggles myself, I can relate to the challenges students face. I understand that sometimes all a student needs is someone who can explain a concept differently, offer a little encouragement, and help them believe that they can do it. Being able to make that difference is what motivates me to keep teaching and become a better educator.
  • How does your work help society?

During my own learning journey, I benefited immensely from people who generously shared their knowledge online and helped me understand concepts that I once struggled with. I see teaching as my own small way of giving back to society. I believe education should go beyond simply learning a subject or developing a particular skill. Through teaching programming and data structures, I hope to help students become better thinkers, develop logical reasoning, and build strong problem-solving abilities. These are skills that extend far beyond programming and can help them navigate different challenges in life. If I can make even a small contribution to someone’s growth and confidence, I consider that meaningful.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who would it be and why?

My biggest role model in teaching is a gentleman who taught me when I was in Class 10. He was quite old, yet his enthusiasm for teaching was remarkable. He never charged me anything for his lessons because he considered teaching a form of worship rather than a transaction. He played a significant role in building my problem-solving abilities and shaping my approach towards learning during my formative years. His selflessness and dedication left a lasting impression on me. I often think that if I can someday embody even a fraction of the values he demonstrated as a teacher, I would consider my mission accomplished.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside teaching, I enjoy listening to music and singing whenever I get the chance. I am also an avid traveller and love exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, meeting people, and collecting memories along the way. I believe travelling offers a wonderful opportunity to learn and see the world from different perspectives.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

One experience that has had a significant impact on me was my own journey through college. I did not belong to a Computer Science branch, so preparing for software engineering placements was quite challenging. I often worried about whether I would even manage to secure a decent job. I had to juggle my core subjects from my major alongside computer science subjects, programming, and data structures, all while dealing with considerable self-doubt and uncertainty.

It was certainly not an easy phase, but it taught me the importance of consistency, patience, and believing in yourself even when the odds seem unfavourable. Eventually, I managed to build my skills and pursue a career in software engineering. This experience also influences the way I teach today. I want my students to understand that they do not need to be naturally gifted or have everything figured out from the beginning. With the right guidance, consistent effort, and the willingness to learn, they can achieve much more than they initially imagine.
