About Jessy
I am an American with degrees in Linguistics and Teaching English as a foreign language. I have 10+ years tutoring and teaching experience to hundreds of students, with some remarkable success stories. The biggest successes to me are the students who gained confidence in their language ability. Most of my students are shy and self-conscious about speaking in a new language - they don't want to make mistakes! But it's part of the learning process. You can't learn to ride a bike without falling a few times, and you can't learn to speak a language without saying things the wrong way.

I give lessons to teens and adults. For both teens and adults, I focus on gaining confidence and practicing speaking and listening skills. For teens, I offer either conversation lessons or extra support for school work if needed. For adults I tend to focus on conversation and professional English. I like to spend at least half the lesson in conversation. During our conversations, I take note of challenges, difficulties and errors. During the last part of the lesson, I share my notes, and choose one of the challenges to practice a grammar point or practice some new vocabulary. I adapt my style to my students. If you would prefer more structured lessons or want to work on specific grammar points, we certainly can do so. I always am open to changing our lessons to fit your needs.
