About Marcus

I'm a fully qualified teacher (Institute of Education, Masters educated) with 15 years of experience. My career has taken me from London classrooms to international schools, and I was proud to be nominated for Teacher of the Year in 2024.

What really drives me is a passion for learning and helping others unlock their potential. My teaching has been graded as "Outstanding" by Ofsted, and I bring that same commitment to every student I work with.

Here’s a bit more about what makes me tick:

A Global Perspective: I’ve taught internationally in both South Korea and The Gambia. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for different cultures and a broader understanding of how people learn. I love bringing this global outlook into my teaching.

The Examiner’s Eye: For the past 10 years, I've been an AQA English Language Examiner. This means I know exactly what examiners are looking for. I use this insider knowledge to help my students cut through the confusion and focus on the skills that actually get results.

A Commitment to Inclusion: I’m passionate about creating inclusive and supportive learning environments. I’ve worked closely with LGBT charities to promote tolerance and believe that every student deserves a space where they feel valued and ready to learn.

Making Online Learning Work: I don’t just see online tuition as a substitute for the classroom; I see it as a powerful tool in its own right. I use platforms like Google Classroom to create an interactive and supportive space where students can access resources, ask questions, and get feedback at any time, not just during our weekly session.

I'm not just here to teach a subject; I'm here to empower students with the confidence and skills they need to succeed, whatever their goals may be.

About the lesson

Unlock Your Full Potential with an AQA Examiner

As a qualified teacher of 15 years and a current AQA English Language Examiner (10 years), my tuition is built around one simple fact: I know exactly what the examiners are looking for because I am one.

My lessons go beyond just teaching the curriculum. I specialise in showing students the specific techniques, vocabulary, and structures needed to hit the top mark bands—and crucially, I help them identify and fix the common mistakes that cost vital marks.

How My Lessons Work: All sessions are one-to-one and take place online via Google Meet. We use shared Google Docs, allowing us to work on texts and practice answers simultaneously in real-time. This collaborative approach helps build confidence quickly.

Premium Ongoing Support: I believe tuition should be more than just one hour a week. Every student gets their own private Google Classroom. This is a space where they can submit homework for marking, access revision resources, or message me with questions at any time between lessons. You are paying for full weekly support, not just a video call.

Who I Teach: I offer specialised support for:

KS3 & GCSE: Building foundational skills and exam technique.

A-Level: Advanced analysis for English and Sociology.

Resits: Intensive, confidence-building courses focused on bridging the gap to a pass.

Adult Learners: Tailored support for professional or personal goals.
