About Ashleigh
I have recently graduated with an Ma in Ceramics, Ba in Illustration. I also have a BTEC NED in Visual Arts and Design graduated from The BRIT School, London. For over 15 years I have volunteered in many local primary schools working with children from the ages of 5 to 16. During my time at uni I coordinated and run workshops, which were either one-on-one or with large groups of people. I am very comfortable to work with all ages, I am mindful of ethical values and keep an open mind to the ideas of others.

I have always found that my own work comes from within me, it makes its way into the world through my hands. My brain is constantly ticking and coming up with all kinds of ideas. Sometimes I find it refreshing to step back and experience the artistic world of others. When I work with other people and teach I always encourage a 'free-ness' of thought. Expression can not only be seen through our faces, hands and body, but through the things we make. When working with children, they have a sense of naivety and have no care for the problems in the world. I find child drawings and cereal box robots beautiful. On the other hand, adults have a different sense of relief. Its a challenge to let go and not worry about the outcome. I love seeing the glow on peoples faces when they are able to finish a piece of work that they are so proud of.
If we can make stunning pottery out of mud...clay. Then anything is possible, that is my methodology.
