About Ivy
I am a English tutor for kids and people of all ages! Learning can be fun too! I specialize in grounding children mostly: hobbies, discovering passions, breakthroughs with mental blocks, etc! Aside from English, I tutor math, art, and at times - music and sports!

I start by speaking with the families and parents first on things and expectations they want to see for their children, such as things they are having trouble with, confused about, and lacking in certain areas. First lesson is the Round Up, which is where I break down a certain topic we will be focusing on for the mid week, and see how the child approaches and solves the vocabulary, sentence, reading, etc. I see where they are at first we I see where they are at; the basics. We end with a quiz on the first day! We will have quizzes and tests, all fun as well because after the test, I go over all the questions and address all concerns. As we approach the end of the month, we have a prize or candies available to how they do on their assignments and tests as well! This is to ensure, they are comfortable and feel not anxious - rather eager and opened to asking me questions! I think this is where most tutors and teachers lack. They don’t create a eager, safe environment for learning. I went through this myself in elementary, middle, and high school. Patience is key, as well as talking in nurturing tone and manner; of course in a slight stern tone when needed. I treat all my students like they are my own!
