About Jana
I am a motivated and ambitious A-Level student with a strong academic focus on mathematics and computing. I currently study Maths, Computer Science, Further Maths, and Economics, where I am predicted A*A*AA respectively. I have a genuine passion for problem-solving and logical thinking, which is reflected in both my subject choices and my academic performance. Achieving Grade 9s in GCSE Maths and Computer Science further demonstrates my strong foundation and consistent dedication to these subjects.
I am particularly interested in studying Computer Science at the University of Manchester, where I hope to deepen my understanding of software development, and computational theory, allowing me to eventually obtain a career in software development. I am drawn to the subject because of its creativity as well as its scientific depth — I enjoy the process of building solutions from scratch and seeing ideas turn into functioning systems. Alongside programming, I am fascinated by the mathematical principles that underpin computing and the way technology can be used to solve real-world problems.
Beyond academics, I am hardworking, organised, and committed to continuous improvement. Tutoring allows me to share my knowledge and experience with others, about the subjects which I am so passionate about! Balancing four A-Levels has strengthened my time management and resilience, aiding my reliability as a tutor. I am driven not only by achieving strong grades, but by a genuine curiosity to learn these fantastic subjects and to challenge myself in new and complex areas of Computer Science.

I achieved Grade 9s in both GCSE Maths and Computer Science, so I understand exactly what is required to reach the highest levels. Having recently gone through the GCSE process myself, I know which revision techniques are genuinely effective, how to approach exam-style questions strategically, and how to avoid common mistakes that cost marks. I can share practical methods for mastering topics, improving exam timing, and building confidence in problem-solving.
In tutoring sessions, I am flexible depending on the student’s needs. I am happy to help with homework, go through difficult classwork step by step, or answer any specific questions they bring to me. Alternatively, I can plan and structure lessons around particular topics they find challenging, whether that’s algebra, geometry, programming, algorithms, or exam technique. I aim to break down complex ideas into simple, clear steps so students feel comfortable asking questions and fully understand the reasoning behind each solution.
I believe being a good tutor is not just about knowing the content, but about being patient, approachable, and encouraging. I focus on creating a supportive environment where students feel confident making mistakes, and see them as a learning opportunity. My goal is to help students not only improve their grades, but also develop a stronger understanding of maths and computer science so they feel capable and independent in their learning!
