About Alexis

I am an experienced English tutor with over 3 years of full-time teaching experience, including working with large classrooms of 30+ students. I specialise in 11+ preparation as well as English from primary through to GCSE level.

I am a structured and supportive tutor who is focused on helping students build confidence, consistency, and strong academic foundations. I work closely with each student to understand their needs and create a clear, goal-driven plan for improvement.

I provide my own high-quality learning materials and resources, including practice papers, worksheets, and targeted exercises to support learning outside of lessons.

Alongside my tutoring experience, I am currently pursuing further education in teaching and completing a TEFL qualification, which will allow me to expand my support to English language learners in the future.

I am committed to helping students stay disciplined, improve steadily, and achieve their academic goals in a focused and supportive environment.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, focused, and tailored to each student’s needs. I begin with an initial assessment (particularly for 11+ students) to determine ability, identify gaps, and ensure the right level of support.

Lessons include regular testing to monitor progress, reinforce learning, and build exam confidence over time. Each session combines explanation, guided practice, and independent work to develop strong understanding and exam technique.

I provide all learning materials, including practice papers, worksheets, and targeted exercises, so students have consistent and high-quality resources.

Lessons typically range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the student’s ability to focus and other factors, which can be discussed and agreed in advance.

I also run booster sessions and additional testing during half-term breaks to help students consolidate learning and stay on track.

My teaching is structured but adaptable, with clear expectations, consistent progress tracking, and goal-setting to support steady improvement.
