About Nicholas
Hi! My name is Nick. I'm 22 and a former HSC graduate from the selective Highschool of Merewether High. I studied 4 years in Canberra at the Australian National University. My degree was International Relations and Security studies, minoring in Philosophy & Political Science.
I have played chess since I was kid, and dedicated a significant amount of time honing my chess skills in multiple time formats. I have attended multiple chess clubs and regularly play street blitz and rapid chess. In my spare time I also play online chess via chess sites like Lichess. My unofficial ELO rating in classical time control is approximately 1900.

My teaching method is dynamic, and would be subject to change depending on the individual I am tutoring. The structure of my tute would be a mixture of time dedicated to chess fundamentals, chess puzzles and playing the game.
I myself learnt the game of chess by primarily playing the game and learning from defeats and mistakes over time. Although, I also recognise the value in first establsihing basic principles of the opening, middle game and endgame beforehand. I also see tremendous value in chess puzzles, which start with an established chess position and then tasks the player to solve it via the best combination of moves.
Ultimately, after a few sessions I would gauge the best way to approach teaching whomever I was tutroing.
