About Abby

My name is Abby, and I am an experienced writer and Peer Coach for students at a Toronto University. My goal is to help my students feel confident with their work and build study habits that will last throughout their high school, university, and work career.

I am a fourth-year IT student with multiple scholarships under my belt and work experience in global companies. I am also big on researching and have secured myself a full-time job in research and development for cyber security. I contribute my successes to my essay/cover letter writing ability and my keen sense of how to research.

I myself have struggled with studying when I was younger and was able to build everlasting habits - transferred to succeeding in the work environment. I am also a seasoned novel writer, previously contracted to a company for a novel that accumulated over 2 million views. During the school year, I am also a paid Peer Coach to help students find their best methods of studying.

I have over 400 hours of volunteer experience revolving around childcare. I am positive and open-minded, willing to empathize and understand the different struggles students face.

As a student myself, I understand other students the most and am able to pinpoint where their problems are and how to fix them.

About the lesson

My specialization falls under English, Essay writing, and study coaching.

My private lessons are tailored towards each individual student's needs. I will conduct my lessons according to how my student works best. After all, every person processes information differently. There is no one size fits all!

An advantage to hiring me as a tutor is the fact that I understand how important studying habits are. I work part-time as a Peer Coach, offering University-level consultation to students. Through my experiences, I learned that ingraining the right studying habits is very important.

My goal is to not only teach my students how to write well-structured essays, but also how to read rubrics, outline, and research. I hope to help students build study habits that will last.

If help with other courses is desirable (science, history, etc.), I may not be able to teach the content itself, but I can teach your child how to search for this information to teach themselves. In this online learning environment, being able to teach oneself is crucial.

What to expect:
- An assessment lesson to learn about what you / your child struggles with
- Reviewing past assignments and what they can improve on
- Teaching Essay structure and elements of a good Essay
- Introducing them to different books they may enjoy for better reading and writing comprehension
- How to do proper research
- In terms of graded assignments, I will go over the rubric with them and help them figure out their goals and what to do for a good mark. Only summarizing and guidance
- Teaching them different ways of studying and how to handle studying for different tests
- Career/university guidance if needed
