About Thomas

I have 5 years art teaching experience including teaching art for a year in Hong Kong. I have won a number of art prizes here in Australia. My teaching style is based on understanding the type of art the student aims to create, and helping them develop the skill set to achieve it, while at the same time creating a relaxed and supportive environment.

About the lesson

Hi my name is Thomas and I help to equip students with the technical skills to express their creativity in drawing, acrylic and oil painting. All levels from beginner to advanced are welcome.

I teach portraiture, anatomy, understanding emotion, figure drawing, landscape painting, colour mixing, impressionist colour and photography, so as to capture great images to paint.

Perfect! Thomas was a patient and understanding tutor, he communicated well, gave me immediate feedback of my drawing at every step, showed me his drawings live to make it easy for me to follow. He also shared with me the some book to read and practice after the class. I like his teaching method and I think he made the online drawing lesson more efficient than I expected. Thank you Thomas!

Perfect! As an art tutor and mentor, I have found Thomas to be very patient, earnest and encouraging. He has a great eye for detail and a way of breaking down and explaining each step along the way. As a complete novice, I have been so happy with what I have achieved and highly commend him as an art teacher.

Thomas not only teaches 'how', but 'why' an art work should be painted. He explains the basic techniques and how colours should be used in a painting in a learner friendly way. I enjoy learning from him. He is a great mentor for both beginners and experienced artists. He is a talented artist, too.

I'm very happy with Thomas! He is a natural artist, he is a calm and patient teacher. You can tell he has a passion for his work, the way he interacts with his students is amazing. My son is 9 y/old, He takes classes with him every week, and he loves every minute of it. He has learned so much in such a short time and can't wait for his next session. I would definitely recommend Thomas. I'm very glad I found a teacher that is able to encourage my sons love of art.

I had a wonderful couple of painting lessons using oil paints with Thomas. He was incredibly patient and encouraging, and his ability to explain different techniques used in the painting we were recreating (Monet!) and scaffold my mixing of different colours was amazing. As someone who has had no prior experience painting, I felt very supported and thoroughly enjoyed the whole process.
