About Angelica

I am a dancer teacher and choreographer born and raised in Miami, FL. I have been teaching and creating dances since my freshman year of high school and I am now in my final semesters at college.

I fell in love with dance at a very early age. Performing in all styles was my favorite thing to do and still is. I then found my own style and ideas and started creating pieces for local schools and studios.

Teaching is one of my greatest passions, since I get to share my love of dance with others and teach them more about it. My classes are productive, challenging, and fun.

My goal is to bring out the best in every student with expert technique, performance excellence, and personalized growth strategies for all skill levels.

About the lesson

I believe in nurturing not just the technical skills but also the artistic expression and confidence of my students. My teaching method encompasses:

1. Warm-Up and Conditioning: Each class begins with a comprehensive warm-up to prepare the body, focusing on flexibility, strength, and injury prevention.
2. Technique Training: I emphasize the fundamentals, such as extensions, jumps, and turns. We break down complex movements into manageable parts, ensuring students understand the mechanics and can execute them with precision.
3. Choreography and Performance: I integrate choreography into lessons to help students apply techniques in a performance context. This also fosters creativity and personal expression.
4. Feedback and Encouragement: Constructive feedback is vital. I ensure it's balanced with positive reinforcement, highlighting improvements and encouraging students to push their boundaries.

Each student is unique, with different strengths and areas for improvement. I tailor my teaching to accommodate these differences, providing individualized attention to help each dancer progress at their own pace.

I use visualization techniques and detailed demonstrations to help students understand the movement. Watching and mimicking my actions helps them grasp the nuances of each technique.

Lesson Plan
1. Warm-Up (15 minutes):

Stretching and flexibility exercises
Strength-building activities
Basic cardio to elevate heart rate

2. Technique Drills (20 minutes):

Focus on specific skills like extensions, jumps, and turns
Drills designed to improve balance, control, and precision
Work on new tricks or specific sequences

3. Choreography Practice (20 minutes):

Learning and practicing a new routine
Applying technical skills within the choreography
Emphasis on musicality and expression

4. Cool Down and Reflection (5 minutes):

Gentle stretching to prevent muscle soreness
Group discussion to reflect on what was learned
Individual feedback and goal setting for next class

What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to bring out the performer in each student, helping them connect emotionally with their movements and express their individuality. My classes are structured to ensure visible progress, tracking improvements and providing a clear development path. With specialization in jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, and ballroom, I offer a broad range of styles for a well-rounded dance education. Additionally, I create a positive and supportive atmosphere, boosting students' confidence and fostering a genuine love for dance.

Being apart of the competitive dance world since I was 7 also sets me part from the rest. I have competed in more than 50 competitions, attended more than 20 conventions, have trained in all styles since the age of 3, performed in music videos and shows such as the super-bowl, and have choreographed for all different age/skill levels.

For Age Range: My lessons are designed for students of all ages, from young children to adults.

I cater to all skill levels, from beginners who are just starting out to advanced dancers looking to refine their technique.

Specific Goals: Whether the student aims to pursue a professional dance career, improve their fitness, or simply enjoy dance as a hobby, my lessons are adaptable to meet these goals.
