About Rachel
I'm Rachel!
In my first career I was a middle school teacher, and now, when people ask what I do, I like to say I'm Flexible.
Several years ago the stress of teaching began to take a toll on my body and my mind. I became disillusioned, burned out, and started experiencing physical symptoms. For a while, my Monday night yoga class was the only thing keeping me together.
That is, until my physical pain got so bad that I could barely walk, stand, sit, or move. I started lying down in a sleeping bag behind my desk at work in-between classes. Walking around the block sometimes took 20 minutes. My husband began dressing me each morning for work. I eventually had back surgery and continue to manage chronic nerve damage to this day.
After I was cleared to move, I began taking yoga again, my first classes taking place over Zoom as the world entered the Covid-19 pandemic. It had been nearly two years since I had last been on a yoga mat, and it was as if my body began to have sunshine poured into it. I twisted, stretched, stood on one leg, and gained strength. I became mobile again.
Whatever it is you are coming here for, whether it's for strength, stress relief, confidence, pain management, agility, body intuition, injury prevention, or overall wellbeing... I get it. I really do. I have constant curiosity and compassion for every type and genre of yoga student. I can help.

What we'll do first is talk about your goals. What are you looking for out of a yoga class? How do you want your body and mind to feel? What, if any, current or past injuries do you have? I like to know about the whole person, so we'll get to know each other quick! We talk about exactly what you're looking to work on, and I tailor the entire hour just to you and your body/mind. You'll get a fully targeted hour of movement, breathing, meditation, and loving energy. What you'll need is a yoga mat and a flexible mindset. No one expects you to put yourself into a pretzel or stand on your head on day 1 (or 100) with me. This is all about learning your body/mind and how to take compassionate care of yourself.
