About Katrina
Katrina Smith-Jackson is a talented new screenwriter, who has participated in writers’ rooms including hit Sky Atlantic show RIVIERA, and HACKNEY WICK for Bad Wolf and Channel 4, and was selected to write on the recent series of BBC show WATERLOO ROAD. She recently developed the pilot for an original TV series for BBC Studios and Channel 4 based on her Screen Nation award nominated web series SHRINK, a psychological thriller which looks at the stigma of mental illness within the Black community. Her latest feature script, QUEERLY BELOVED, was shortlisted for the Greenacre Productions and TriForce Creative Network Script Search initiative. Previously, Katrina won the TriForce Creative Network’s WriterSlam with her original series TILBURY RUSH, influenced by Katrina’s British Jamaican heritage, which received a Sky Drama reading, featuring actors Karen Bryson (SHAMELESS), Wil Johnson (WAKING THE DEAD) and Elaine Cassidy (FINGERSMITH). Katrina’s credits include several episodes of Channel 4 series, HOLLYOAKS, as well as BBC children’s show JOJO AND GRAN GRAN. Katrina has also been selected to develop an original TV series, DEAD YARD, for TriForce Creative Network under Dandi's Regional Breakthrough Writers programme. She currently lectures at MetFilm School and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, previously at Central Saint Martins, and has recently been selected to join the Soho Writers Lab cohort for 2023/24. She has worked in development at Idris Elba’s production company Green Door Pictures and started her career as a script researcher on long running BBC series EASTENDERS.

Tailored for whether you are a beginner or have screenwriting experience, these workshops are designed to provide you with the knowledge and techniques required to develop your storytelling and script writing skills, as well as learn how to professionally package your projects in order to approach and attract agents, producers and/or production companies.
With workshops ranging from sourcing ideas for TV & Film to developing dynamic characters to story structure and more, you’ll learn through a mixture of theory, script analysis and practical exercises how to successfully express your dramatic ideas onto the page into something that is both viable and sellable in the current market.
If you choose to participate in all the workshops available (an 8-week course), by the end you will have written a one-page treatment + the first fifteen pages of a feature length film script or a TV pilot script with feedback and guidance throughout the process.
