About Chris

As an artist, I am driven by curiosity, a desire for continual growth, and a deep interest in the intersection of music, character, and human expression. My work as an operatic tenor has taught me to approach performance with both intellectual rigor and emotional openness. I am particularly drawn to exploring the dramatic possibilities of the voice, finding ways to make each character and musical phrase feel specific, spontaneous, and deeply human.

About the lesson

My approach to voice teaching combines technical precision, musical expression, and drama. As a trained operatic tenor with experience in a wide and ever-widening repertoire, I help students develop healthy vocal technique, breath management, resonance, diction, and confident performance skills. I tailor my teaching to each student’s voice, goals, and learning style, emphasizing practical exercises that build understanding and encourage independent practice.

A typical lesson begins with vocal warm-ups and technical exercises focused on the student’s specific needs. We then apply these concepts to repertoire, working on musical phrasing, language, interpretation, and performance. I encourage students to approach challenges with curiosity and patience, helping them understand not only what to change, but why a particular technique works, so then they’re able to go forward with their own ideas about their singing.

What sets me apart is my combination of professional performance experience, and emphasis on drama and text, and a supportive, collaborative teaching style. I strive to make complex vocal concepts accessible while helping students discover their own artistic voices. My lessons are suited to beginners, and intermediate singers interested in classical singing, art song, and opera, whether they are preparing for auditions, school performances, conservatory studies, or simply looking to develop their voices and musical confidence.
