About Shaylee

My name is Shaylee, and I am so excited to be your tutor. I believe every student has unique strengths, and my goal is to help you grow, feel confident, and discover what you are capable of achieving. I have been teaching for 2 years, and I am passionate about creating a learning environment where learning feels engaging, safe, and challenging in the best ways. In our class, mistakes are part of learning, respect is the foundation, and curiosity is always encouraged. Outside of school, I enjoy reading, baking and being outside, and I love bringing those experiences into the classroom to connect what we learn to the real world. I can’t wait to get to know each of you, learn together, and make this year a successful and memorable one!

About the lesson

I believe learning should be engaging, interactive, and student-centered. I use a mix of direct instruction, guided practice, and hands-on activities to help students truly understand concepts rather than just memorize them. I often incorporate visuals, real-world examples, and questioning techniques to encourage critical thinking and deeper connections. I also differentiate instruction to meet individual needs, ensuring that every learner feels supported and challenged.

A typical lesson plan:
- Warm-Up/Review (5–10 minutes): Quick activity or discussion to review prior learning and spark interest.
- Introduction of New Concept (10–15 minutes): Clear explanation with examples, often supported by visuals or short activities.
- Guided Practice (15–20 minutes): Students practice with my support through discussion, problem-solving, or small group activities.
- Independent Practice (15–20 minutes): Learners apply knowledge on their own while I monitor and provide feedback.
- Wrap-Up/Reflection (5 minutes): Students share takeaways, ask questions, and connect the lesson to prior or future learning.

I adapt lessons to the learner’s pace, strengths, and interests. My classroom background gives me proven strategies for managing learning differences and fostering growth. I create a space where students feel confident to take risks and ask questions.

The lessons are for elementary and middle school students. They are ideal for students who:

- Want to build confidence and study skills.
