About Aya
My academic journey includes a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Rutgers University and I am currently pursuing a PhD in Neuroscience at City University of New York. These accomplishments are a testament to my deep understanding of math and its applications. My approach is rooted in the belief that anyone can excel in math with the right guidance. I bring patience, adaptability, and a tailored teaching style to help you not only understand mathematical concepts but also apply them confidently.

It is disheartening to witness the current educational paradigm that often discourages students by branding them as 'not math people,' which may lead to an aversion to the subject. The traditional portrayal of mathematics as a subject bound by inflexible rules where deviation results in punitive grading is, in my view, a disservice to its true nature. Mathematics is, at its core, a form of artistic expression that harnesses critical thinking — an invaluable skill for any career path. It is about the joy of exploration, the elegance of reasoning, and the intellectual satisfaction derived from problem-solving, questioning, and discovery — far beyond mere obedience and rote memorization. I teach elementary and middle school math.

Aya really loves the subject she teaches and makes emphasis on deep understanding, not just getting correct answer. She is very patient and really connected with my son, he actually likes math now!
