About Vikshut

About me: I am an engineer and entrepreneur who has spent nearly two decades building and running technology businesses. I co-founded a construction technology company that grew to a 60-person team, raised £2.8 million, and was acquired in 2024. Before that, I led large-scale solar energy projects across India, where applied mathematics and physics were part of the daily work.

I moved to London permanently in 2026 and am now offering private tutoring as something I genuinely enjoy — helping students build a relationship with maths that is grounded, confident, and practical.

I am not a career tutor with a script. I am someone who has used mathematics throughout a long professional life and can show students — concretely — why it matters and where it leads.

I am patient, structured, and direct. I do not believe in making maths feel harder than it is. Most students who struggle are not struggling with maths itself — they are struggling with a gap somewhere earlier that nobody went back to fix. That is usually where we start.

I hold a degree in engineering and have mentored and trained professionals globally throughout my career.

I look forward to working with motivated students and supportive families who want real progress, not just reassurance.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring maths: I teach maths to students from primary school through to 8th grade — ages 6 to 14 — with a focus on building genuine understanding rather than just drilling techniques.

My background is in engineering and enterprise technology. Over nearly two decades, I have used mathematics practically — from calculating structural loads on construction sites to building financial models for a funded technology business. That real-world grounding shapes how I teach. I don't present maths as a set of rules to memorise. I present it as a tool that makes sense once you can see where it is used.

How I teach
I start every new student with a short diagnostic — a relaxed conversation and a few problems — to understand where they are confident and where they are avoiding. Most gaps in maths are not gaps in ability. They are gaps in foundations. We find those first.

From there, lessons are structured around three things: concept clarity, applied practice, and confidence-building. I use worked examples, visual explanations where helpful, and real-world contexts to make abstract ideas land. I ask questions more than I explain — the goal is to get the student thinking out loud, not just watching me solve problems.

I am patient, specific, and I adapt quickly if something is not clicking.

Students from Grade 1 through Grade 8, roughly ages 6 to 14. Particularly well-suited for:
- Students who feel behind and want to close a gap without pressure
- Students preparing for school exams or competitive assessments
- Parents who want their child to actually understand maths, not just pass tests
