About Darby
Professional Musician & Dedicated Educator | B.Mus Graduate, M.Teach (Secondary) Student
With over six years of experience as a private piano teacher and a deep-rooted career in performance, I bring a wealth of practical and academic knowledge to every lesson. My musical journey is defined by versatility; I hold a Bachelor of Music from the University of New England and am currently furthering my pedagogical expertise through a Master of Teaching (Secondary).
Beyond the classroom, I am an active member of the professional music community. I regularly perform in Musical Theatre pit bands and have held leadership roles as an Assistant Musical Director. My experience spans across concert bands, jazz ensembles, and working with brass and percussion students, giving me a comprehensive understanding of ensemble dynamics and instrumental techniques.

I believe that a true love for music is built on a foundation of excellence. My teaching style is characterized by precision, high standards, and clarity. Expert Music Tuition: Theory, Conducting & Performance
With a Bachelor of Music from the University of New England and over six years of professional teaching experience, I provide high-standard, precise musical instruction tailored to dedicated students. I am currently completing a Master of Teaching (Secondary) to further refine my pedagogical approach, ensuring every lesson is both academically rigorous and inspiring.
What I Offer:
Music Theory: Specialized preparation for AMEB and AGMS examinations. I focus on technical precision and deep understanding to ensure exam success for school-aged students and beyond.
Conducting: Practical "dos and don'ts" for aspiring conductors. Whether you are looking to lead a school ensemble or a community group, I share insights gained from my experience as an Assistant Musical Director and pit musician.
Ensemble Skills: Drawing from my extensive background in Musical Theatre pit bands, concert bands, and jazz ensembles, I offer a well-rounded perspective on performance and musicianship.

I believe in fostering a genuine love for music through disciplined learning. I hold my students to high standards, ensuring that foundational information is taught with absolute clarity. My goal is to develop proficient musicians who understand the "why" behind the music.
