About Melissa
As a Bachelor of Science graduate with majors in Biochemistry and Microbiology, I bring a strong foundation in the sciences to every lesson. I am committed to providing a professional, supportive, and engaging learning environment, where students feel confident to ask questions and master challenging topics. With over 10 years of teaching experience in this subject, I am more than capable of providing students with the much needed support to excel in the subject. My teaching approach is tailored to each student's needs, helping them build a solid understanding of concepts and apply them in real-world scenarios. My methodology uses every day examples applicable to the topic I am busy teaching. My main aim is to get students to understand the theory so that they can apply it comfortably when doing exercises or writing examinations. My lessons are given in English. My lessons cater to high school learners who struggle to apply their knowledge to examination questions. A typical lesson with me would include introducing a new topic, giving a brief explanation and real-life applications. A clear, step-by-step explanation of concepts, with diagrams or models, encouraging questions and discussion. Solving sample problems together to understand application, calculations, and experiment predictions. If possible, a simple lab demo or virtual experiment to see concepts in action. Students practice problems on their own or in groups, getting guidance as needed. Recapping key points, ensuring everyone grasps the main takeaways. Assigning practice questions to reinforce learning or suggesting further reading for a deeper understanding.
