About Catherine
I am an incredibly passionate and dedicated teacher. I am taking time off from the classroom to finish my masters degree, and I want to tutor on the side because I will miss teaching too much! I have worked in a public school with grade levels K-5, and tutored some middle/high schoolers while I was in college. I can help you with English (reading and writing or speaking and listening), and I can help grade levels K-8 with math, social studies, or science as well.

-My teaching method is to use very explicit and engaging instruction. I like to create vocabulary slides, games, stories, and discussion prompts to practice all 4 domains of English Language Learning.
-A typical lesson plan will very greatly depending on the student's age and skill level. I am qualified to teach Newcomers all the way through Level 6 ELL students, grades K-6.
-For beginners, I like to have a nice repetitive start to the lesson to help with crucial daily vocab. Every session we would start off by discussing the date, month, year, day of the week, weather, what yesterday was, what tomorrow will be, and the agenda of that day's session.
-For more advanced English students I love to push them with more real-life application. We'll do creative writing, open discussions, reading and discussing of novels. I'd love for the students to have a hand in selecting what novel they want to read!
