Luke has been working with our eldest son for about 6 months, as he works towards his GCSEs. Our son had some slightly disrupted years at school where he got a bit behind. We felt a tutor was needed to help James catch up and hopefully meet the expectations his teachers had for him in both Language and Literature when he started the course.

Luke has far exceeded the brief. With his knowledge of every part of the syllabus, he's been able identify knowledge gaps quickly and come up with an effective plan to fill them. He's got a long memory of how exam boards set exams, what has come up in the past and what examiners are looking for. He then uses all this knowledge to develop really effective ways of preparing and structuring good answers to questions, which he communicates in highly practical ways, building not only the necessary knowledge of the subject, but how to use it and get it out on paper. He's not just providing a hack to pass exams, but also building real world skills in how to learn and communicate effectively.

Key to all of this though is Luke's passion for the subject and for tutoring, and the positive energy he brings to every session. A real focus on the positives and the progress, and always showing a clear road to address any weaknesses. Our son has found it all so helpful and motivating. His grades have improved hugely, as has his self-confidence.

We're already reserving time with Luke for our second son and would recommend Luke as a tutor to anyone.

Luke is an excellent tutor. My son (Year 8) had a few sessions with him mostly focusing on supporting him with English skills. He is able to make the lessons fun and light and capture my son's interest. He is very organised, sends lesson plans ahead of time and is able to be flexible and creative.
