About Mia

Hi, I’m Mia – a dedicated and approachable tutor passionate about helping students build confidence and reach their academic goals. English and History were my favorite subjects in high school, and I studied Modern History, Ancient History, History Extension, and English Advanced for my HSC, graduating with strong results. I love working with both kids and teenagers. Over the past four years, I’ve babysat regularly, and this year, I’ve worked as a ski instructor during my gap year, teaching children and teenagers from a range of backgrounds. These experiences have strengthened my communication and teaching skills in fun, flexible, and engaging ways. I understand how much of a difference the right support can make. I personally struggled with Math during high school, and it wasn’t until I found the right tutor that I began to enjoy it and gain confidence. That experience inspired me to be the kind of tutor who listens, adapts, and helps students feel capable and empowered in their learning. Next year, I’ll be studying History and Education at university, and I can’t wait to continue sharing my love of learning and supporting students of all ages.

About the lesson

My tutoring style is adaptable and student-focused. I tailor each session to suit the individual's learning style, whether that means breaking down content, practising essay writing, preparing for exams, or supporting primary school literacy skills.

My approach combines structure with encouragement. I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. Lessons typically run for one hour, but I'm flexible depending on the student's needs on the day, with shorter sessions for younger students or longer ones when preparing for assessments.

I have experience tutoring both primary and high school students (Years 1, 3, 7, and 9), which has strengthened my communication skills and taught me how to engage learners at different stages. I also recently completed Year 12 and the HSC myself, so I understand the pressures of school and how to succeed under exam conditions.
