About Marie
I am an aspiring commercial barrister, having applied for pupillage, graded Very Competent on the Bar Practice Course at the University of Law and due for Call to the Bar of England and Wales in March 2026. I hold a high 2:1 in LLB Law from the University of Bristol and a 41/45 in International Baccalaureate Diploma (2020, top 3% globally).
I previously worked as a Commercial Litigation and Insolvency Paralegal at one of Russia’s leading litigation firms, where I assisted on a cassation defence before the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
Beyond practice, I served as Vice President of the University of Bristol Bar Society (2023–2024), overseeing the Society’s professional programme, including facilitating structured engagement between students and members of the practising Bar. During the same period, I was Editor-in-Chief of The Wig Magazine (2023–2024), leading a team of nine editors to produce an edition on AI integration at the Bar and working closely with contributors, including Lord Reed, President of the UK Supreme Court, and Lana Graf (IFC, World Bank Group). In addition, I led the BAME, Female and Social Mobility Mentorship Scheme (2023–2024), implementing and overseeing a year-long programme supporting students from underrepresented backgrounds.
I also run an Instagram platform with over 11,000 followers where I provide practical, experience-led guidance on the pathway to the Bar of England and Wales, including clear strategies for approaching assessments and Bar exams (concealed information) This teaching-focused work directly informs my tutoring, particularly in helping students manage time under pressure and understand what examiners are actually looking for.

I teach the core LLB modules, including Criminal Law, Civil Law, Contract Law, Public Law, and International Law, and I am confident supporting students in optional and specialist areas. This includes Intellectual Property law, having completed a doctrinal dissertation on the protection of AI-generated artistic works in copyright law with reference to the Next Rembrandt project, as well as IT law, having completed assessed coursework in multi-jurisdictional cybercrime focusing on territorial jurisdiction and extradition as the UK’s principal cross-border enforcement issue.
Having completed the Bar Course, I also provide targeted support in Civil and Criminal Litigation, as well as written and oral advocacy. I achieved a high distinction in Civil Opinion Writing, placing me in the top 5% of my cohort.
My teaching is tailored to each student. I identify how you learn most effectively (visual, auditory or kinaesthetic) and adapt materials and note-taking methods accordingly, drawing on structured examples and practical exercises. Where helpful, I also share examples of my own notes and techniques.
Across all levels, my focus is on developing confident legal analysis and effective exam technique, tailored to each student’s individual needs and objectives.

Marie is the go-to for Bar course modules. No one else has explained procedurally complex issues to me with the same level of clarity. She also provides exam-ready notes which are genuinely inestimable. My only wish is that I had found her sooner!
Marie has been an incredible English teacher, and I feel so fortunate to have learned from her.
Her ability to speak three languages fluently has given her a unique perspective that she shares in the most insightful ways. She has introduced me to brilliant strategies for memorising tricky English words, making something that once felt incredibly overwhelming seem completely manageable. Marie also has an amazing approach to explaining English grammar, which has really helped me grasp the language better. Her teaching style is patient, clear, and tailored to my needs, and I’ve seen noticeable progress thanks to her guidance. I highly recommend her!Marie has been a fantastic tutor over the past year. She has been excellent in her advice on how to write an effective answer to a problem question, focusing on an efficient structure and method to provide a full analysis of all the relevant legal issues. This resulted in a substantial improvement in my problem question performance.
Marie also helped improve my extended essay writing skills. Mainly, by providing me with better legal research methods to make use of a range of legal sources to support my arguments.
On the pastoral side, Marie has strongly supported me with my new position at a university law club, offering advice taken from her experience of being the Vice-President of the Bristol Bar Society.
Lastly, I must also recommend Marie’s Instagram blog, which provides very useful content that eloquently describes the path to the bar, and tips to achieve as an advocate!View more recommendations
