About Rachel
I’m a Barton Reading & Spelling System certified tutor with two years of experience providing 1:1 structured literacy instruction to students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties, across all grade levels from early elementary through high school. I currently work at a provincial learning disabilities association, where I use the Orton-Gillingham method to teach reading, spelling, and decoding. I’m passionate about helping struggling readers build real confidence and lasting skills, and I bring both clinical training and genuine care to every session I teach.

I’m a Barton Reading & Spelling System certified tutor with two years of experience providing 1:1 structured literacy instruction to students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties, across all grade levels from early elementary through high school. I currently work at a provincial learning disabilities association using the Barton method to teach reading, spelling, and decoding.
My teaching is systematic and multisensory, adapted to each student’s specific needs. I offer online and in-person sessions if you’re located in St. John’s and willing to travel to a library. I can work with families in different time zones. I’m happy to do a short intro call first to make sure we’re a good match before committing to regular sessions.
