Hi. I've been speaking Japanese since I was a teen (now old!). Did Japanese at Uni, won the Aust-Japan Japanese language speech contest & then got lost in IT. Just done a 3 mth refresher in Japan.

I'm retiring from self-employment in IT and have always loved Japanese and Japan. I initially taught myself the language while living in Japan as a kid and then went on to study Japanese (and Chinese) at University so I know what's involved in making progress in a tricky language that's unfamiliar to many.

Japanese is a wonderfully rich language. Vocab is important but so too are verbs and the basic grammar you need to stitch it all together. To be good there aren't too many shortcuts but there are definitely tricks to get you going and keep you optimistic.
Regardless of whether you're just going for a holiday or want to go further, let's define your objectives and agree an approach that can work.
