About Joe

I've been writing, playing and performing music for nearly two decades. A lot of that time was spent touring. Unfortunately the COVID pandemic has not been kind to live music, and, after being stuck in Australia for two years, I decided to up sticks and head back to one of my favourite places in the world, Glasgow. I'm currently working on a film soundtrack as well as a new album, and I'd love to teach some guitar (or songwriting!) skills while I do it. As far as qualifications go, I won the International Songwriting Competition with the track 'Lions', worked with Coldplay's producer as a session guitarist in Santa Monica and have had my music spun on KCRW, Triple J and the BBC. More than any of that though, I'm just passionate about music.

About the lesson

Hi! My name is Joe Nuttall, I'm a professional songwriter and guitarist from Australia, currently based in Glasgow. I've been a touring musician for many years, played the Whisky A Go-Go in LA, The Falls Festival and Big Day Out in Australia and supported the likes of Courtney Barnett, The Violent Femmes and Turin Brakes in Europe. I was also a session guitarist at the famous Village Recorder Santa Monica, where I worked with Coldplay's producer in 2019. I'd love to help you develop your skills, whether you're a beginner or an experienced player. I can help with technique, but more importantly I can help with creativity, songwriting, and even crafting lyrics. Half hour and full hour lessons available. Happy with distance & online lessons, or in person. Whatever suits you!
