• When and why did you develop an interest in your chosen field?

  I started taking guitar lessons when I was 9 and pretty much right away realized that it was something I really wanted to do. Seeing other people play music at a high level was very inspiring. Listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan blew my mind and I started to play along with Greenday and Nirvana records. When I was about 15 I really liked Jack Johnson and started to learn to sing and play guitar. Since then I've played in a lot of Rock, Folk, Pop and Jazz bands and I recently graduated from Capilano University Jazz program.

• What makes you passionate about your subject?

  There is so much to learn in music, I am always learning something new. I find this inspires me to always get better.

• What do you like about tutoring? What makes you a "Superprof"?

  I think I have a large appreciation for lots of genres and different ways of playing the guitar. I enjoy finding what makes someone excited about guitar and finding just the right song or exercise to help that person grow.

• Do you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? Please explain.

  My guitar teacher at Capilano University Bill Coon always inspires me. The music of Radiohead, Bill Frisell, Stevie Wonder, Bahamas, Pat Martino just to name a few.

• What are your keys to success?

  Focusing on the joy in playing music is important. At the same time being disciplined. It's a hard balance to hold but I think that is what has helped me grow. Music is such a gift and it is important to be thankful.
