About Niola
Hello! My name is Niola, and I am currently studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at UC Berkeley. Alongside my technical studies, I have always been deeply passionate about the Albanian language, literature, and culture. I graduated from Flatrat e Dijes High School in Albania with a 4.0 in Albanian Language & Grammar and Albanian Literature, and I was awarded third place in the Regional Albanian Language Olympiad.
At UC Berkeley, I also taught the Intro to Albanian DeCal, helping students from different backgrounds learn Albanian in a welcoming and engaging environment. Through this experience, I developed a teaching style that is patient, supportive, and adapted to each student’s learning pace and goals.
I understand that learning a language can sometimes feel intimidating, especially when it comes to speaking and grammar, so I focus on creating lessons that are interactive, encouraging, and practical. Whether you are a complete beginner, a heritage speaker wanting to reconnect with the language, or a student looking to strengthen your grammar and writing skills, I will tailor lessons to fit your needs.
My goal is not only to help students improve academically, but also to help them feel confident and comfortable using Albanian in everyday conversations and cultural settings.

As an Intro to Albanian DeCal instructor at UC Berkeley and a former Albanian Language Regional Olympiad finalist, I focus on making Standard Albanian both approachable and engaging for students of all backgrounds. My lessons combine grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, conversation practice, and cultural context so students not only learn the language, but also feel confident using it naturally.
My teaching style is interactive and personalized. I adapt each lesson based on the student’s goals, whether that is learning conversational Albanian, improving grammar and writing skills, preparing for school coursework, reconnecting with Albanian heritage, or practicing professional communication. I emphasize patience, encouragement, and real-world usage rather than memorization alone.
A typical lesson may include:
Conversational speaking practice
Grammar explanations with examples
Reading and pronunciation exercises
Albanian literature or cultural discussions
Personalized vocabulary and homework review
What sets me apart is my combination of academic experience, cultural understanding, and teaching experience at UC Berkeley. Having taught students with different levels of familiarity with Albanian, I understand how to break down difficult concepts clearly and make lessons comfortable and motivating.
