About Kiva

I am a Berkeley graduate and an avid writer, voice actor, and hobbyist linguist. My mother learned English as a second language as a child when she emigrated from Vietnam to the US, so I want to give back and provide language services to those who would like to improve their English. I live in California and operate on PST by default, so please let know me your time zone when setting up an appointment so I can adjust. Thanks!

About the lesson

Hello! I'm Kiva, I'm passionate about language and helping others communicate more effectively. I am a native English speaker, and I am conversationally fluent in European Portuguese. I want to help anyone and everyone learn English and feel more confident in their speech skills, for a rate they can afford. If you are interested in improving your grammar and pronunciation but are on a very small budget, talk to me about my need-based lesson plans!

I've helped students in improving their mastery of grammar and literacy for 5 years, provided speech accent help for 6 years, and helped students build their essay skills for university coursework for the past 9 years.

A typical lesson includes speaking and writing practice, access to flash cards and supporting materials, and a lecture or review relevant to the topics we are covering. Examples of relevant topics: pronunciation, grammar, essay or editorial writing, and/or good habits for more confident public speaking.

I'm flexible in my hours, and accept all timezones. Let's chat and find a lesson plan that works for you. My rate fluctuates depending on what we work on together and how much material I prepare for you outside of class. Hope to meet you soon!
