Hi, I'm Divya! I'm a senior at Iowa State University studying Business Analytics, and I've been working with kids and students for years. I'm a reading tutor, a chess coach, and a baby caregiver, so patience and making learning fun come pretty naturally to me.

I'm a George Washington Carver Scholar and a Borlaug Scholar through the World Food Prize Foundation, and I've completed internships in AI, insurance, and wealth management. Those experiences taught me how to communicate clearly, break down tricky ideas, and adapt to different people, which are all things I bring into every lesson.

I grew up in Iowa speaking both English and Telugu, so I understand what it's like to navigate more than one language. I genuinely enjoy seeing students go from unsure to confident, and I always try to make my lessons a place where you feel comfortable asking questions.

If you're looking for a tutor who's friendly, reliable, and actually excited to help you grow, I'd love to work with you!

About the lesson

Hi! I'm Divya, and I love helping students feel more confident with English. Whether you're a kid who's struggling with reading, a teen working on essays, or an adult who wants to feel more comfortable speaking, I'm here to help at your own pace.

I've worked with kids as a reading tutor, so I know that everyone learns a little differently. My lessons are laid-back and judgment-free. Mistakes are totally okay because that's how we learn!

Here's what a typical lesson looks like: we start with a quick chat or a fun short reading to warm up. Then we dive into whatever you want to focus on, like reading, grammar, writing, or vocabulary. I'll walk you through examples, we'll practice together, and then you'll give it a try on your own. At the end, we'll recap what you learned and I'll give you a little something to practice before next time.

I also speak Telugu, so if your family is more comfortable in both languages, that's no problem at all.

My lessons are for kids plus adults of any level. We can meet in Ames or online, whatever works best for you. I can't wait to meet you!
