About Ina

Hallo! I am a native German who landed in Dundalk, Co Louth, as an exchange teacher on a one-year programme. That year now spans two decades and I am firmly planted in da town, raising three multilingual offspring and minding a guinea pig. When I'm not teaching, editing or parenting, I can be found volunteering in the community, walking the hills, watching birds, digging in soil or manipulating scrap wood into new uses while listening to audiobooks.

About the lesson

I love learning and am passionate about teaching. I pick my students up where they are and tailor our time together to your needs and requirements. I believe learning happens anywhere and anytime, just like no skill exists in isolation. So classes have a holistic approach, based on natural language acquisition and use in real-life scenarios relevant to you. All that while focusing on your preferred outcome - whether that is a particular exam, building topical vocabulary, improving your pronunciation, preparing for a holiday, acing an interview or refreshing what you've learned before. I cater for students of all levels, from beginner to advanced. As well as a Master's in Linguistics (German and English) and Education, I have over 20 years experience teaching German in Ireland at second and third level, both in mainstream and private tuition. I have experience as a mock oral examiner and several years experience working in educational publishing (primarily German language teaching/learning books). I am up to date with new Junior Cert requirements and familiar with exam structures for German at Junior Cert and Leaving Cert levels.

Ina was a tutor for my son when he was doing his Leaving Certificate in German.
Ina as a teacher he said was very professional and made learning German easy to understand from the basics to conversational German, so much so his teacher in his school said he was an honours student with test results of 80% to 90%range. When i told his teacher who his grind teacher outside school was, his teacher replied that he know of Ina and that she was known to be very good at giving grinds. Ive recommended her to other parents and i can say as a person she is very kind, reliable and trustworthy.
