About Eloise

Biochemistry Tutor at Imperial College London with a passion for using scientific knowledge for the benefit of society.

After achieving A*A*A*A in my A levels (Biology, Chemistry, Music and the EPQ), I spent a year working as a software engineer at medical device company Oxehealth, while self studying maths A-level, before commencing my studies. My research interests include sustainable materials and microbiology, which I would love to chat about! I also have experience in clinical research after completing novel research for the Oxehealth Clinical Research Forum and researching the efficacy of treatment for Adolescent OCD for my EPQ (A*). I’m my free time, I compose classical and global fusion music and play oboe for the Roundhouse Music Collective.

About the lesson

I take pride in a methodical, thorough approach to my tutoring where needed to ensure students admire confident with all aspects of their subjects as required, ready for their exams

I typically create bespoke lessons for pupils based on the specification for the exam board students are studying for. Lessons usually last 1 hour each.

I will ask students to take away an exam specification after the first session and color code topics based on confidence, which will serve as a basis for the following sessions.

Lessons will typically cover 1 - 2 topics, which may be requested before the lesson. I aim to teach as interactively as possible by encouraging input from students to in piercing together information to come to understand key concepts, supporting development of independent thinking. Lessons typically take place in an interactive presentation or question and answer format. The second part of each lesson will typically be spent on practice questions, which will be attempted independently, then refined with support and exam technique. If requested, I
I am happy to adjust the pace of lessons as suits the student.
I like to give some further practice questions to students to be completed for the next session, although this can be omitted if requested.

After completing training with Team Up as a volunteer in 2021, I am an accredited SSAT Silver Senior Tutor and have since worked as a DBS checked freelance tutor. It has been incredibly rewarding to see students I tutor achieve twice the national average grade progression per year and achieve their full potential.
