About Oscar
I'm Oscar, a Bioscience graduate with a 2:1 from King's College London.
Having achieved 2 As and 2 Bs at A level, in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Welsh and 25 hours of tutoring experience, my strongest subjects to teach are either Biology, Maths or Chemistry at GCSE level.
Studying neuroscience at a degree level has helped me develop strengths at mentoring peers and simplifying concepts, especially biological ones.
I have a clear understanding of how to go about teaching. Support the student to understand the concept. Then help the student memorise the information.
By using mnemonics, mind maps and other memory techniques, breaking down lots of information can become easy work.
My tutoring standards will ensure that ...
- Student is aware of all topics within their syllabus
- Students can meet 'tricky' marking criteria on specific exams Q's
- Extra mock assessments, feedback and advice leading up to exams
- Constructing timetables and keeping to deadlines to cover all subject content
Over the past three years, I have mentored people in biology, chemistry and maths. I tutored my sister and cousin for their maths GCSEs and find it rewarding to know I have given them something of will value throughout their lives.
I'm am a fitness enthusiast who enjoys football, cycling and hiking. I volunteered at a local youth centre when I younger and have practised the bass guitar up to grade 6 and performed pub gigs in as a band, on occasion fundraising gigs for multiple charities.
