About Padma

Hi! My name is Padma, and I’m a Biomedical Science student based in Toronto. I tutor Chemistry, Biology, Math, and Physics for middle and high school students. I’ve always loved science and helping others understand it in a clear and easy way. As a student myself, I know how tricky some topics can be, so I’m here to break things down, answer your questions, and help you feel confident. Whether you're preparing for a test or just need a bit of extra support, I’m excited to help you reach your goals with various learning strategies, so that you enjoy learning along the way!

About the lesson

My teaching methodologies include:
-Active Learning: I use questions, real-life analogies, and visual aids to encourage students to engage deeply with the material.
-Scaffolded Instruction: Concepts are broken down step-by-step to build understanding from the ground up, ensuring students never feel overwhelmed.
-Practice-Based Mastery: I provide targeted practice problems after each concept to reinforce understanding and improve problem-solving speed and accuracy.

Here is a typical lesson plan I tend to use with all of my students:
0–5 min – Quick review of previous session & progress check
5–15 min – Introduction of today’s topic with concept explanation using diagrams/examples
15–30 min – Guided problem-solving (collaborative)
30–50 min – Independent practice with feedback
50–55 min – Q&A and clarification of challenging points
55–60 min – Assign optional practice + preview of the next topic

Some things that set me apart as a tutor are:

-Multidisciplinary Strength: I tutor across STEM subjects, helping students draw connections between biology, chemistry, physics, and math.

My lessons are for students from grades 4-12, looking to build a strong foundation in chemistry, biology, physics, and math.
